5 Ways to Stay Motivated

Want to keep exercising, stay healthy, and love life? Here's a few tips on how to do it.

1. Find a goal! Now chase it!
Having a goal provides direction and destination. It helps you to clearly focus on what you want to achieve. It also gives you a sense of personal satisfaction and purpose. What is your target? A competition, an event, new PR? Continually look for new challenges and new goals to keep the fire burning.

2. Learn something new.
One of the things I love about the fitness industry is the need for continual development and learning, not just as a coach, but also as an athlete. Find something that interest or challenges you, and learn more about it. Seek advice from others and read up on research from experts in the field.

3. Invest in yourself.
Life in general can be stressful. At work, and at home. This can throw you off your game, and also hinders your recovery. Studies have shown that stress can also prevent your weight loss. Make sure you get enough sleep every night (ideally more than 7 hours) and make time for yourself to do things you enjoy. It's important to keep your body in a parasympathetic state to help recovery, hormonal balance, and general well being. So go get that massage you've been thinking of.

4. Find a buddy.
If you're struggling to find motivation and keep focus, a friend can be a great help. You don't need to go at it alone! The right partner can create a positive response in drive and motivation, and keep you accountable.

5. Appreciate what you have.
Take a step back to look at what you have, and how far you have come. List the things you are thankful for, and let this be a reminder to you every day.
